Classic Sugar Cream Pie

You cannot live in the Midwest and not have a version of this classic sugar cream pie in your favorite recipes. This one is from a 91-year-old great grandmother who stills lives on her own and loves to cook for her family.

1 unbaked pie crust (do not prick bottom)

½ cup brown sugar

½ cup white sugar

½ cup flour

Dash of salt

1 pint whipping cream, at room temperature

1 pint milk, at room temperature

1 teaspoon of vanilla

Nutmeg to sprinkle on top

Mix together all ingredients except nutmeg and pour into pie crust. Sprinkle nutmeg on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until it starts to set around edges. Depending on your oven, you may have to bake a little longer.

(Note: When I made this the second time, I added a little more flour as I wanted the filling to be a little more “solid”.
